Each piece is made from 18k gold with 925 sterling silver as the base metal. Gold vermeil is legally regulated term plated with a very thick layer of solid gold of at least 2.5 microns. This is 10x thicker than standard gold-plated jewelry.
Gold filled is created by mechanically bonding a layer of at least 5% of gold to a layer of base metal. The gold is then bonded to the surface of the brass using heat and pressure. Like gold vermeil, gold filled is tarnish resistant and can last a lifetime.
White gold is made up of a blend of pure yellow gold, plus other precious metals. It is coated with a hard metal rhodium which makes it pure white with a gleaming colour. Rhodium helps add a lustrous surface to white gold jewellery.
